Cost of living is basically what is says, it’s how expensive a location is compared to another by looking at the average cost of expenses like your rent, groceries, restaurant prices, etc…
This then gets turned into a number you can use to compare to other locations this is especially important when comparing this to your income, as this will determine if the income you’re going to receive is enough for you to live from it.
This can then used to indicate how much you want your salary to be to cover the expenses from this location and also increase your local purchasing power as well.
